Community Health Day - Juba

Join HWISS for our first Community Health Day in Juba! This free event brings together families from across Central Equatoria for comprehensive health screenings, wellness education, and community building activities.

Location: Juba University Grounds, Main Campus
Cost: Free for all participants

What to Expect

Health Screenings

  • General Health Check-ups: Blood pressure, weight, basic physical examinations
  • Maternal & Child Health: Prenatal care, child growth monitoring, immunization updates
  • Nutrition Assessment: Malnutrition screening, dietary counseling, supplement distribution
  • Eye Examinations: Vision testing and reading glasses distribution
  • Dental Care: Oral health screenings and basic dental treatments

Educational Sessions

  • Disease Prevention: Information on malaria, cholera, TB prevention
  • Nutrition Education: Healthy eating, food safety, child feeding practices
  • Mental Health Awareness: Stress management, trauma healing resources
  • Family Planning: Reproductive health education and contraceptive counseling
  • Hygiene Promotion: Handwashing, menstrual hygiene, water treatment

Community Activities

  • Children's Corner: Health-themed games, storytelling, educational activities
  • Cultural Performances: Traditional music and dance celebrating community health
  • Resource Fair: Information booths from local health organizations
  • Cooking Demonstrations: Nutritious meals using locally available ingredients

Special Programs

Mobile Clinic Launch

We'll officially launch our new mobile clinic unit with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00 AM. Community leaders and government officials will join us to celebrate this milestone in bringing healthcare to remote areas.

Community Health Worker Recognition

Outstanding Community Health Workers from across the region will be recognized for their service and dedication to improving community health outcomes.

Youth Health Champions

Young people aged 15-25 can sign up to become Youth Health Champions, receiving training to promote health awareness among their peers.

What to Bring

Transportation

Free transportation will be provided from the following locations:

  • Munuki Market: Departing every 30 minutes from 7:30 AM
  • Konyo Konyo Market: Departing every 30 minutes from 7:45 AM
  • Custom Market: Departing every 30 minutes from 8:00 AM

Return transport will be available throughout the day until 6:00 PM.

Safety Measures

In keeping with health safety protocols:

  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the venue
  • Face masks will be provided for those who need them
  • Social distancing guidelines will be followed in all activities
  • All health screening equipment will be sanitized between uses

Follow-Up Services

Participants who need ongoing care will receive:

  • Referrals to appropriate health facilities
  • Follow-up appointments with HWISS mobile clinics
  • Connection to Community Health Worker support
  • Information about other HWISS programs and services
