Published on August 1, 2025

Our first mobile health clinic has started serving remote communities. The clinic provides essential healthcare services, maternal & child health, and health education to areas with limited access to medical facilities.

Mobile Clinic Program Begins Operations

HWISS is excited to announce that our first mobile health clinic is now operational and serving remote communities across Central Equatoria. This milestone represents a crucial step in our mission to bring integrated healthcare services directly to those who need them most.

First Month Results

In our inaugural month of operations, we have:

  • Served 847 patients across 12 remote villages
  • Conducted 156 maternal and child health consultations
  • Provided 234 immunizations for children and adults
  • Completed 89 nutrition screenings and provided supplementation
  • Trained 23 Community Health Workers in basic care and referral protocols

Community Response

The response from communities has been overwhelmingly positive. Village elder John Deng from Lobonok shared: "For the first time in years, our children can receive proper medical care without traveling for days. The HWISS team has brought hope back to our village."

Operational Model

Our mobile clinic follows a sustainable model:

  1. Regular Schedules: Each village receives visits every 2-4 weeks
  2. Community Preparation: Local health committees coordinate logistics
  3. Follow-up Care: Community Health Workers provide continuity between visits
  4. Referral Systems: Complex cases are referred to partner health centers
  5. Data Collection: All services are documented for impact measurement

Expansion Plans

Based on initial success, we are preparing to launch two additional mobile clinics by October 2025. These will serve:

  • Warrap State: Focusing on pastoralist communities
  • Upper Nile: Serving displaced populations and returnees

Sustainability Measures

To ensure long-term impact, we are:

  • Training local staff to gradually take over operations
  • Establishing community health insurance schemes
  • Creating income-generating activities for health committees
  • Building partnerships with government health departments
  • Developing solar-powered equipment for energy independence

The mobile clinic program exemplifies HWISS's commitment to community-driven, sustainable healthcare solutions. We look forward to expanding this vital service to reach even more underserved communities across South Sudan.
